Practice Policies & What to Expect

Matthew Maynard, LMFT | Private Virtual Practice

Therapy with me isn’t traditional. It’s designed for discerning individuals and families who are ready to invest in real change. This is a private, virtual practice built around flexibility, confidentiality, and clinical excellence. What you’ll find here is high-impact, high-integrity work tailored for high-performing lives.

Below is an overview of what to expect when working together.

Exclusively Virtual. Intentionally Elevated.

This practice is 100% virtual—and intentionally so.

My clients are busy professionals,  dynamic families, and individuals who value their time, privacy, and ease of access. Virtual sessions eliminate travel time, reduce scheduling conflicts, and offer the ability to connect from anywhere in the world—without sacrificing the depth or quality of care.

Clients often report that virtual sessions feel more consistent, more convenient, and just as impactful. This model has led to fewer cancellations, better continuity of care, and stronger results.

There’s no waiting room. No unexpected encounters. Just direct, confidential access—wherever you are.

Sessions & Cancellations

  • Standard sessions are 55 minutes

  • Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance

  • Late cancellations or no-shows are charged the full session fee - I do consider waiving this on a case to case basis based on emergency situations.

  • If you arrive late, the session still ends at the scheduled time based on my schedule being back-to-back

Your session time is reserved exclusively for you. I honor your investment—and expect that same level of respect for the work from every client I serve.

Fees & Insurance

This is a private pay, out-of-network practice. I do not bill insurance companies directly, which allows us to do deeper, more flexible work without restrictions or clinical labels imposed by insurance.

However, I do provide monthly superbills for clients who wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement through their insurance plan. Many clients are able to receive partial reimbursement depending on their benefits.

Family Work & Working with Teens

When working with adolescents or entire family systems, I focus on creating trust while maintaining structure. Parents are included appropriately, and confidentiality guidelines are clearly established at the beginning of treatment to support growth for all parties involved. I do expect parents to be incorporated at times during the sessions as this is a strategic and cornerstone of treatment.

I am working my way out of a job, not further into one. I deliver coaching and strategic approaches for parents to incorporate based on dynamics with their child or teen.

Ending Therapy

When it’s time to conclude therapy, we’ll move through a structured termination process to create clarity, closure, and a smooth transition.

If therapy is not being effectively used, or if sessions are missed for three consecutive weeks without communication, the therapeutic relationship may be considered discontinued.

Estimated Length of Treatment

While therapy is never one-size-fits-all, most clients work with me for approximately 4–5 months, depending on the nature of their symptoms, goals, and family dynamics. Some clients achieve meaningful change more quickly, while others stay longer for continued growth or more complex work. My approach is designed to be efficient, highly strategic, and rooted in my own systems and frameworks—so that your time, energy, and resources are used with purpose. That said, the pace and direction of therapy is always personalized. We’ll collaborate to set goals, track progress, and make adjustments along the way.

Is This the Right Fit?

This work isn’t for everyone—and that’s by design.

I work best with individuals, couples, and families who are ready to go beyond surface-level solutions. My approach is intensive, strategic, and rooted in clinical precision, but it’s also human, dynamic, and real. We laugh, we challenge old patterns, and we create momentum—together.

Even though the work runs deep, the space we create is anything but heavy. Clients often tell me they’re surprised by how fun, comfortable, and even energizing sessions can feel. I use humor, candid feedback, and a down-to-earth style to disarm defensiveness and break through rigidity—because real change happens when we stop taking ourselves so seriously and start seeing our patterns with clarity and compassion.

This isn’t just therapy—it’s a collaborative experience built around sustainable breakthroughs. If you're looking to challenge your current way of operating, upgrade your relationships, and elevate how you move through life, you’ll feel right at home here.

However, if you're seeking a quick fix, crisis-only support, or therapy dictated by insurance, this may not be the best fit. The clients I work with are investing in long-term transformation—not just symptom management.

This work is for people who want to evolve.
